Stewart Engineers is excited to announce the addition of four new engineers to their team. They include recent graduates from North Carolina State University and East Carolina University with degrees in Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering. In addition, Stewart has hired an intern From NC State double majoring in Computer and Electrical Engineering.
At Stewart Engineers, these fresh graduates will learn the ins and outs of the glass industry from our veteran glass experts. They will develop keen insights into glass manufacturing through Stewart's cutting-edge glass making and coating technologies to make them experts in their own right.
These additions, combined with a relentless commitment to improve, will enable Stewart to deliver products and services superior to those of our competitors. What is Industrial Process Control
Extremely accurate industrial process control is the key to strong float glass operations. Glass making demands precision. For example, the glass level in the furnace is often controlled within +/- 0.005 inches, which canal temperature is typically controlled within +/- 1 degree C
Analog outputs are controlled by Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) loops. The proportional constant determines the amount of response to a deviation from the setpoint. The integral portion resets the response at a given time interval, and the derivative is used for slow loops that adjust the output based on the slope of the deviation from the setpoint.
Why Stewart Engineers' Industrial Process Control
Knowledge of the control process is key for accurate loop timing and therefore accurate and repeatable control. Stewart Engineers' expertise in the glass industry allows for creative solutions and more precise control.
For example, the amount of time that glass is in the lehr zone is determined by line-speed. Thicker glass moves slowly through the lehr while thinner glass moves significantly faster. This line-speed can be used to calculate the response time (Integral Control Valve) for each lehr one based on the respective zone length. This provides the best annealing control response at any line-speed or glass thickness.

Orda Glass Facility Update Jan 2018
Exciting News Entering 2018:
Stewart Engineers, Inc. has achieved a number of milestones on the Orda Glass Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan float glass project thus far: sourcing of process suppliers
- Design of integrated processes
- All engineering work, including civil specifications, was completed and approved by Kazakhstan state expertise
- Equipment fabrication
- Process steel fabrication
- All process steel and equipment was delivered to site (over 800 containers)
- Process steel installation
Stewart Engineers has completed all milestones on time and on budget. The project is now in transition, as further progress is contingent upon the successful transfer of civil works from ShymkentKhimMontazh to China Triumph. Upon recommencement of civil works, Stewart Engineers can begin installation of sensitive process equipment that must be protected from the elements.

Orda Glass Facility Update Nov 2017
Stewart Engineers, an investor, EPC contractor, and technical adviser for the
Orda Glass facility is pleased to announce the completion of the furnace process
steel installation for the project. China Triumph has recently been
added to the project, taking over civil construction from a local
builder. Stewart Engineers expects the project to be completed in 2019.

30 Year Anniversary
It all began in 1986 when Mr. Leslie T. Stewart CEO embarked on a journey to develop control systems to support the glass industry. Stewart Engineers was founded in Gross Ile, Michigan. For several years, they have served customers in the control system industry. As the team worked closely with these clients, they saw more and more business opportunities in the glass industry. This led to an expansion in their team for the development of float innovative technology specifically for the float glass industry.
Early in the 1990's, Stewart Engineers designed its first StewartFloat® tin bath. The first StewartFloat® was installed and successfully commissioned in Indonesia. Towards the end of that project, Andrew Stewart, now President of Stewart Engineers, signed on to work for the company as a Controls System Engineer.

After successfully commissioning over 20 StewartFloat® tin baths, Andrew Stewart relocated the Stewart Engineers headquarters and all of its employees to Wake Forest, North Carolina. Andrew then led the design of the AcuraCoat® On-Line chemical vapor deposition (CVD) glass coating system and was promoted to President of Stewart Engineers. He has steered the team in the successful commission of three turnkey glass manufacturing facilities, over 20 custom StewartFloat® tin baths, five AcuraCoat® on-line glass coating systems, and over 100 other glass industry related projects.
Our latest world class turn-key glass manufacturing project is Orda Glass, located in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Float Glass Advances
As the process technology provider of the Orda Glass float glass manufacturing and processing plant in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan, Stewart Engineers, Inc. is pleased to announce float glass advances - Installation of production equipment support steel structures is advancing.
The installation crew on site in Kyzylorda, under the supervision of Stewart Engineers, is ramping up the installation of support steel structures for the tin bath and melting furnace of the Kyzylorda float glass plant.
What This Means:
Support steel installation commenced in early March. Nearly 80% of the support steel installation is expected to be complete as early as July. At that time, sufficient steel will be in place to begin installation of the melting furnace and tin bath, which comprise the heart of the float glass production line. It is critical, however, that a new construction company be appointed shortly to continue the civil works, as the melting furnace and tin bath cannot be installed until civil construction is sufficiently advanced. The batch plant (for mixing of glass-forming ingredients) must also be completed in order to commence heat up of the melting furnace.

LLP in searching for a new civil works construction company to fulfill Orda's civil works responsibilities in this project," advised Stewart Engineers' Vice President of Technology, Chris Cording. "Stewart Engineers is assisting Orda in this initiative. China Triumph International Engineering, a well-known float glass factory construction company is currently in negotiations to take over the civil works from the previous contractor ShymkentKhimMontazh."
